Terms of Service

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By creating an account, uploading a file, purchasing credits, or otherwise using BilingualText, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. What BilingualText provides

BilingualText is an automated technical processing and formatting utility. It accepts user-selected EPUB files, processes text through translation technology, and produces a bilingual or parallel-text EPUB for the user's private reading workflow.

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. BilingualText is not a publisher, bookstore, library, distributor, or seller of books, and does not curate, endorse, license, or make available the underlying works that users upload.

3. Your files, rights, and permission to process

You retain any rights you hold in your uploaded files. To operate the Service, you grant BilingualText a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to access, host, reproduce, transform, transmit to service providers, and delete your files solely as needed to process your request, provide a download, secure the Service, and meet legal obligations.

You represent and warrant that you own the necessary rights or have a valid legal basis and permission to upload, translate, and process every file you submit. Examples may include a public-domain work, a license or authorization from the rightsholder, or a legally permitted personal or fair-use purpose. Whether an exception applies depends on the facts and applicable law; you are responsible for determining it.

4. Prohibited use

You may not use, or allow others to use, the Service to:

• upload, translate, copy, or distribute pirated, infringing, or otherwise unauthorized copyrighted material, including for public redistribution;
• share a generated output publicly or commercially unless you have all rights and permissions required to do so;
• circumvent access controls, rate limits, payment controls, or security measures; interfere with the Service; or attempt to access another person's account or files;
• upload malware, unlawful material, or material that violates another person's privacy, publicity, or other rights.

5. AI translation and generated output

Translation and formatting are automated. Outputs may contain errors, omissions, mistranslations, formatting defects, or differences in tone, meaning, and quality. You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it.

Do not rely on BilingualText for a certified translation or for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, or other professional-purpose content. A generated file does not give you any ownership or distribution rights in the underlying work.

6. Credits, payments, and refunds

Paid features may require credits. Prices, estimated credit usage, and applicable taxes are shown before purchase or processing where practicable. Payments and billing records are handled by third-party payment processors; BilingualText does not store full payment-card numbers on its servers.

Credits are personal to your account, have no cash value, are not transferable, and may not be resold. Translation estimates are not guarantees of final usage. Except where required by applicable law or a payment processor's mandatory policy, completed or partially consumed processing is non-refundable. If the Service fails before it makes a downloadable output available, we may review the job and restore applicable unused or incorrectly charged credits at our discretion.

7. Availability and temporary file storage

Processing can be delayed or unavailable because of malformed EPUB files, provider capacity, outages, maintenance, security events, or other factors outside our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, a particular completion time, or that every file can be processed.

Uploaded source files and generated output files are kept only temporarily for processing, continuation, and download. They are scheduled for permanent deletion within 14 days and may become unavailable earlier. Keep your own lawful backup of any file you need; deletion may be irreversible.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, cancel, or terminate access; remove files; or limit processing where we reasonably believe there is a breach of these Terms, an intellectual-property complaint, fraud, security risk, legal requirement, or risk of harm to the Service or others.

You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination does not erase obligations that by their nature should survive, including payment obligations, intellectual-property protections, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute-related provisions.

9. Disclaimers, indemnity, and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, BilingualText disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, security, and availability. We do not warrant that outputs will be error-free, lawful for your intended use, or accepted by any e-reader or platform.

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BilingualText and its operators, providers, and representatives from claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your files, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or applicable law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BilingualText's total aggregate liability for all claims related to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to BilingualText for the Service during the 12 months before the claim arose or US$100. BilingualText will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, law, or our practices. The updated version becomes effective when posted, unless a different effective date is stated. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
